Dealers selling counter brand pesticides cautioned

Director Agriculture Kashmir, Altaf Aijaz Andrabi on Monday cautioned the dealers who are dealing with spurious quality of pesticides in the Kashmir region while reviewing the progress. He said law enforcement agency of the department have seized spurious pesticides worth Rs. 100 Lakhs during the last two months from dealers across the valley.

Addressing the meeting held at Directorate of Agriculture, Kashmir he emphasized upon the officers of the enforcement agency to be proactive, mobile and initiate stern action against the dealers involved in the nexus of spurious pesticides. He said that the government has assured growers that all remedial recourse would be taken to safeguard the yield.

Deputy Director Law Enforcement Kashmir appraised Director Agriculture that in Kashmir region that the agency seized and sale stopped for more than 33 quintals of spurious pesticides worth 01 Crore and 61 prosecutions are under process.

He added that major products which were seized include, Dithane M-45, Tata M -45, Indofil Z-78, Merimain, Captra from manufacturers like Sarasvati Agro chemical Ltd, Rallies India Ltd, Indofil Industries Ltd and Adma India Pvt. Ltd respectively.

Andrabi asked growers to ensure that the pesticides which are found misbranded published in various newspapers by the department should be avoided.

“I urge my growers across the region to inform the department about such dealers so that we can take immediate and stern action against them at an earliest,” Director averred.

Meanwhile, the Director was informed that 36,000 metric tons of various fertilizers are available at district headquarters.
