One civilian dead after forces fire on protesters in Kupwara

One person was killed and 10 injured when police and security forces opened fire on people who were demanding bodies of two slain militants in Panzgam village of Kupwara.

Two militants and three soldiers were killed in a Fidayeen attack on the army camp in North Kahsmir’s Kupwara district early morning today.

Sources said that after the gunfight between militants and government forces came to an end, locals staged protest in front of Army camp demanding body of slain militants.

However,  reports said that army fired on the protesters resulting in the killing one person and injuries to 10 other people. Most of them are bullet hit.

The slain local has been Identified as Muhmmad Yousuf  Bhat , 45, from Panzgam village of Kupwara. According to the reports, the slain person was hit in the neck by a bullet. 

Sources from Kupwara said that stone pelting is going on in Trehgam, Panzgam and Kralpora area when this report was filed.
