Malegaon blast 2008: Bombay high court grants bail to prime accused Sadhvi Pragya

The Bombay High Court Tuesday granted bail to the Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, a key accused in Malegaon blast case. Thakur was granted bail on a surety of 5 lakh ruprees.

However the High Court rejected the bail application of Lt Col Prassad Purohit, another accused in the blast case.

Thankur has approached the court in August 2016 after her bail plea was rejected by the NIA court.  In May 2016, NIA has dropped all the charges against the Thakur. NIA has concluded that there is no substantial evidence against to prove her role in the blast.

Six persons were killed and scores injured in a blast at Malegaon, a Muslim-majority town in northern Maharashtra, in September 2008.
