SHABIR SHAH CONDEMNS HARASSMENT OF KASHMIRIS IN INDIAN STATES

Strongly condemning the harassment of Kashmiri students in different states, chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah, on Saturday, said such incidents vindicate our stand that a war has been waged against Kashmiris since BJP came to power in New Delhi.

Kashmiri students in Uttar Pradesh are feeling insecure after threatening banners appeared in the Meerut with a message for Kashmiri students ‘leave the state or face consequences’.

Shah has expressed serious concern over the increasing threats to Kashmiris living in different states particularly in Uttar Pradesh saying despite such provocative acts, lakhs of Indians working and studying in Kashmir are treated in a very humane manner.

“We want to assure all those students and workers from other states that they need not worry about anything,” he said.

He appealed to people across the length and breadth of India to treat Kashmiri youth as their own.

Shah said intimidating Kashmiris in other states is a coward act. He said if any untoward incident happens with Kashmiris, the Centre would be responsible.

The DFP chairman said that uncalled for statements made by BJP leaders Ram Madhav, Chander Prakash Ganga are expected but what is shocking is the silence maintained by PDP leaders.

“We hope PDP members collectively resign from assembly,” he said. Shah said PDP leaders like Haseeb Drabu and Altaf Bukhari should listen to the voice of their conscience and part ways from their alliance partner BJP.
