National Conference veteran and former minister Ali Mohammad Naik Friday evening passed away at his Srinagar residence. He was in eighties.
Naik was elected to the state assembly four times, was minister thrice and was last elected to the Lok Sabha in 1999 when he defeated Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
After Naik completed his term as MP, he was attacked by militants in which he survived seriously injured. He survived with the handicaps of that attack till his death. He spent most of his post-attack days as being member of the in-house legislative committee to choose the best lawmaker in debates and discussions.
