The Historic Mughal Road which connects Kashmir Valley with Jammu region as an alternative route through Shopian and Poonch Districts shall be thrown open on sunday the 23rd of April 2017 for one way traffic initially for a few days and efforts are on to make the road two way for all types of vehicles as the concerned Engineers have been directed to repair the damaged stretches as early as possible. This was stated by the Dy commissioner Poonch Mohammad Harun in a press briefing here at Poonch.
“Vehicular movement on this historic road will give a sigh of relief to the general public particularly traders community of both the regions which has great significance in terms of economic activities ” He added.
Mr.Harun while giving details of the traffic movement said that traffic shall be allowed strictly from 9:am to 4:pm in view of weather conditions and other related issues at higher reaches.
He further said that no movement of traffic shall be allowed during nights. The vehicles should, however cross Peer ki Gali before 5:pm every day.
