A delegation led by Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, met President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday and apprised him of the overall situation prevailing in the Valley.
The statement of JKPCC stated that the delegation gave a detailed presentation to President Pranab Mukherjee about the overall socio-political scenario in the state, especially in the Valley. They informed him about the hardships faced by the common man in the state due to the failure of Mehbooba Mufti government on all fronts.
Expressing serious concerns over the situation that prevailed in the Valley, the delegation said that it was the duty of the state government to create a conducive atmosphere by ensuring tight security for the people of the state to feel safe and sound. However, they said that the state government had failed on many counts, as a result of which the law and order situation in the state was deteriorating.
The delegation briefed the President about the brutalities inflicted on college students and expressed serious concern over the use of force against students in the Valley. This, they said, had severely impacted the education system in the Valley.
They urged the President to ask the Centre to hold talks with all stakeholders, especially the youth, in the state in order to put an end to the crisis in the Valley and instil confidence among the people.
Earlier, the delegation had called on Congress Vice President, Rahul Gandhi, in New Delhi and discussed with him the ongoing political crisis in the state.
Congress leaders Nawang Rigzin Jora, MLA Mubarak Gul, Deputy CLP Leader Aijaz Ahmad Khan, MLA G.M. Saroori, MLA Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, MLA Gulzar Ahmad Wani, MLA Altaf Kaloo, MLC Showket Hussain Ganie, MLA Abdul Majeed Larmi and Th. Balbir Singh were part of the delegation.
