PDP wakes up, convenes emergency meet to discuss situation

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Monday convened an emergency meeting to discuss the situation arising out of unfortunate incident at Pulwama College last week.

A party spokesman said that Party General Secretary Nizamudin Bhat and other office bearers present in the meeting condemned the police action and intrusion into the academic institution.

He said that party has demanded immediate probe and stern action against the personnel involved in disturbing the peace of the college and use of any force against students and the staff.

The party felt that resultant outrage from students on the provocative incident is natural and appealed to student community to maintain calm as peace at educational institutions was paramount to our future.

The party assured the student community that those responsible for undermining the respect of students and teachers will not be able to escape punishment.

Party general secretary also said that “till an appropriate action with immediate probe against culprits, it is desirable for authorities to close the educational institutions in the valley.”

“Without trust and cooperation of students the institution cannot function and prudent approach is the need of the hour”, he added and hoped that the authority will rise to the occasion and will save education sector from any unpleasant disruption.
