Modi wants to make India a Hindu state: Soz

Anantnag: Comparing BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi with Adolf Hitler, state Congress chief Saif-ud-Din Soz on Wednesday said that if Modi becomes Prime Minister of India “there will be no space for minorities in any part of the country.”
“Modi is following the footsteps of Hitler. He is dividing the people along religious lines and wants to make India a Hindu state. If he becomes Prime Minister of India, there will be no space for minorities in any part of the country. I clearly tell you that it is a war between truth and false, secularism and dictatorship,” Soz told an election rally at Dak Bungalow, Khanabal.
Soz said that if people “cannot differentiate between right and wrong this time,” they will repent for it later. “People of Germany are still cursing and abusing Hitler. So you should vote for those who believe in secularism,” he said.
Later talking to reporters, Soz described media reports about some Congress leaders threatening resignation over poll tie-up with National Conference as propaganda. “All such reports are nothing but a propaganda launched by some elements who don’t want the NC-Congress coalition in the state. I am the state president and I chaired the meeting of my leaders and workers at party headquarters. All of them spoke their heart out. But finally all of them assured me of their support to NC candidates in all the three parliamentary constituencies of the Valley,” Soz said.
He said that no Congress leader or worker has any grudge against the NC. “Our leaders and workers may be having some complaints with me but they are ready to abide by the decision of the party high command. They are not sleeping. They are doing what they are supposed to do to ensure the victory of NC candidates in Valley,” Soz said.
Asked about his ouster from the National Conference in 1999, Soz tried to avoid the question saying, “One should not tie his legs with his past but make his past a mission to go ahead.”
