PAMPORE: Scores of people from this saffron town Tuesday blocked Jammu-Srinagar highway to protest erratic power supply in Frestabal area.
The protesters including women and children chanted slogans against the Power Development Department for not addressing their grievance which had been brought into their notice two weeks ago.
The agitated people blocked the highway for about one hour causing huge traffic jam, eyewitnesses told Kashmir Reader.
Later, Station House Officer (SHO) of Pampore police station Raja Tasleem reached the spot. He assured the protesters that their problem “will be solved within two days.”
The protesters disperse peacefully after the SHO’s assurance, the eyewitnesses added.
