CRIMEA REFERENDUM

SRINAGAR: Senior leader of Hurriyat Conference (M) and chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (H) Javaid Ahmad Mir Wednesday welcomed Crimea’s decision to declare independence from Ukraine and said the move will prove morale boaster for Kashmiri people.
“Crimea’s decision to declare independence from Ukraine will prove a morale booster for our freedom struggle and the people of Kashmir,” Mir said according to a statement issued by JKLF (H).
He said the move would also help the Kashmir’s pro-freedom leadership to project its cause in more structured way at the international forms and make the world community including UN and the US understand their cause.
“The referendum in Crimea has encouraged the Kashmiri people and made their belief firmer that one day India will have to definitely fulfill their demand as due to the changing global scenario, it cannot continue with its policy of rigidity and stubbornness,” Mir added.
He also said that “election and selection is not a solution to the long standing Kashmir dispute.”
“The people of Kashmir have given the sacrifices only for freedom,” Mir said, adding “The election can never be a substitute right of self determination.”
