Winter not over yet: Weatherman warns heavy rain, snow from March 9 to 12

Srinagar: If you think winter is over, think again as the Meteorological Department Saturday issued a weather warning for “moderate to rather heavy rain, snow” during next four days.

“A fresh Western Disturbance over J&K and adjoining areas is likely to affect the state from March 9 (Sunday) to March 12 (Wednesday) with its main activity on March 10 and 11,” a statement by the department said here.

Under the influence of the weather system, it said, moderate to rather heavy rain or snow will occur at many places in Kashmir and Jammu divisions.

“Snowfall is also likely at a few places in Ladakh region particularly in Zojila, Drass and Kargil hilly areas,” it said.

During these days, it said, temperatures may fall by 3-4 degrees Celsius and night temperature may rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius.
