Srinagar: Police on Friday arrested four gamblers from Karan Nagar here and recovered stake money of Rs 55,000 from the scene.
Station House Officer of Karan Nagar, Mohammad Isaaq arrested four gamblers while gambling in a public place, a police spokesman said.
He identified the arrested gamblers as Rafiq Ahmad Darzi, son of Ghulam Mohammad, of Nawab Bazaar, Ishtiyaq Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Rasool, of Wanbal, Aasif Mustafa, son of Abdul Majeed Makie, of Umar Abad HMT, and Zahoor Ahmad Banjari, son of Ghulam Qadir, of Zainakote.
Stake money of Rs 55,000 was recovered from the gambling site besides a pack of cards, the spokesman said, adding that a case FIR NO 6/2014 under section 13 Gambling Act was registered in this regard and investigation has been started.
