Unnecessary criticism, mindless fatwas cause harm to movement: Hurriyat(M)

Srinagar: The Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat Conference Wednesday dismissed  the criticism leveled  at it for entering into dialogue with New Delhi.
“Hurriyat Conference does not believe in unnecessary criticism or pointing fingers at  any pro-freedom organization or person but  deliberate, mindless fatwas and devoid-of-fact statements are against the objectives and interests of the movement and could  create confusion among the minds of the people,” the amalgam said after a joint meeting of its executive, general and working committees here.
Speaking during a seminar last week, Mirwaiz had said the amalgam  will not be  apologetic for talking to India as doing so was part of its efforts to find a solution to the Kashmir issue.  However, the next day, the Syed Ali Geelani-led Hurriyat Conference had termed dialogue with New Delhi as “useless” until India shunned  its “rhetoric of Jammu and Kashmir being its integral part.”
Responding to the criticism, the Mirwaiz led Hurriyat said it “considers the implementation of UN resolutions or result-oriented dialogue among all parties to the Kashmir dispute as unavoidable. To present the objectives of the movement, dialogue is the only credible way and in accordance with the norms of international politics and diplomacy.”
“Instead of emotional screams on the issue, Hurriyat conference believes in seriousness in its approach and actions towards the movement.  The amalgam’s  leadership has the complete confidence and competence of putting forth its stand forcefully before any power of the world,” the statement said.
It further said that Hurriyat faction was “well aware of its responsibilities towards the movement and being the representative of the sentiments and aspirations of the people will not leave any stone unturned in making efforts at local as well as international level for the resolution of Kashmir issue.”
People who were offering “priceless sacrifices and bearing the brunt of continuous suppressions and repression day in and day out are the real masters of freedom movement,” it said.
“They have the comprehension and capacity to identify between the well-wishers and sellers of the movement,” it said.
