SAC probing cases against Dy CM, others: Omar

Jammu: The State Accountability Commission is probing eight cases against some politicians including Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and three of his ministerial colleagues, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said in the Assembly on Thursday.
The regular inquiry cases pending for disposal is against the Deputy Chief Minister, three other sitting ministers, six former ministers, a sitting MLA and 32 serving and retired officials, Omar said in a written reply to the question of PDP member Choudhary Zulfikar Ali.
Besides Chand, those facing inquiry are Roads and Buildings Minister Abdul Majid Wani, Medical Education and Sports Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Transport Minister Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan, and former ministers—Gulchain Singh Charak, Mangat Ram Sharma (former DCM), Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Sofi, Suman Lata Bhagat, A G Sofi, and sitting MLA G M Saroori.
The Chief Minister said while the Jammu and Kashmir High Court had stayed cases pertaining to Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Mangat Ram Sharma, Abdul Majid Wani, the record pertaining to cases against Gulchain Singh Charak, Hakeem Yaseen has been summoned by the court.—PTI
