JAMMU: To present the annual budget today, Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather Wednesday gave final touches to Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather Wednesday finalised the Budget 2014-15 at Civil Secretariat, here.
This will be 6th in a row Rather will be presenting 6th budget .
This is the 6th budget in a row Rather is presenting in the J&K Legislative Assembly as finance minister of present coalition government and 14th during jos political career.
Before this, he has presented budgets in the year 1983, 1984, 987, 1988, 1989, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. In addition to this, Rather has presented vote on account on two occasions.
Speaking on the occasion, Rather, according to an official statement, said that every effort is being made to pool all the available resources to make the budget proposals representative to the urges and aspirations of the people and also stake holders. He said it shall be my endeavour to present a people friendly budget as far as possible keeping the resources of the state into consideration.
Rather said that the budget proposals will be discussed threadbare by the members of the House adding that every member and political party shall have the adequate opportunity to present their views on the budget proposals.
Rather said, before formulating next year’s budget, he has undertaken an exhaustive exercise of pre-budget consultations with all the stakeholders including trade, industry, transporters, intellectuals, academicians and progressive farmers of both Jammu and Kashmir divisions to get first hand appraisal of their demands and suggestions.
The Economic Advisor to Government, Jalil Ahmad Khan and Principal Secretary Finance, Mr. BB Vyas were also present on the occasion.
