Geelani concerned over Dr Qasim’s deteriorating health

SRINAGAR: Expressing concern over the deteriorating health of incarcerated Muslim League chairman, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, Wednesday warned that authorities would be solely responsible if anything untoward happens to Faktoo.
“If Dr Qasim is not given proper treatment at this stage he will lose his eyesight for which the state authorities will solely be responsible as they are in haste to shift him back to the central jail from the hospital” Geelani said in a statement issued by a spokesman of Hurriyat Conference (G)
“Dr Qasim is languishing in Jail from past 21 years where he has developed multiple ailments and is not being released despite the recommendations of the review board,” Geelani said, adding “his eyesight has waned to an alarming level.”
Geelani said that even though he has been admitted to SMHS hospital on the recommendations of doctors, however, the state authorities and police are trying to shift him back to the jail before the completion of his treatment. “If this happened, his eyesight will be greatly damaged,” Geelani said.
“If this happened and any other harm was caused to Dr Qasim, the state authorities will be responsible for it,” he added.
Geelani also expressed deep concern over the condition of two Kashmiris, Farhat Mehmod and Sheikh Imran, “who are languishing in Kolkata jail and are on hunger strike.”
