SRINAGAR: A delegation of residents from Lattar village of Chadoora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district Wednesday alleged that the village Panchayat members were misusing public funds for personal use.
“We demand that government should probe all the works being done under MGNAREGA in our village as the village Sarpanch, Ghulam Mohi-u-Din Najar along with his panchs is misusing the public funds for personal use,” said a joint statement signed by the villagers.
“The panchs are the contractors themselves who execute these works,” the statement said.
“We appeal higher officials in the government to take stern action against the local Sarpanch and Panchs so that the grievances of common people are addressed and the public funds are spent on deserving people,” the statement added.
