Srinagar: Intense clashes between groups of youths and security forces broke out in several areas of Soura against the killing of militant Eesa Fazili who along with two of his associates were killed in Hakoora Anantnag today morning.
Reports said that stone pelting have been reported from Soura, Anchar, Old Barzulla, Lal Chowk and other areas of the city.
In the morning, as soon as the slain militant’s body reached his Soura residence, thousands of people gathered there to participate in his funeral prayers.
Meanwhile clashes were also reported from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, against the killings.
Sources said that youth pelted stones on forces near police station Pulwama, who retaliated by firing tear smoke shells, triggering clashes.
Pertinently, authorities have ordered closure of schools and other educational institutions as a precautionary measure in Srinagar and south Kashmir.
