Omar asks New Delhi to explain Akhtar’s assertion about China’s involvement in Kashmir

Must read

Srinagar: Reacting to ruling PDP Minister’s claim that China is assuming a “much bigger role in Kashmir” and the Jaish-e-Mohammad has been veritably “adopted” by Beijing, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday asked New Delhi to explain the minister’s proclamation about China’s involvement in J&K affairs.

“China has adopted JeM, a terrorist organisation operating in J&K. This assertion from @MehboobaMufti’s closest confidant cannot be dismissed as wild ramblings. Govt of India needs to explain the basis of this statement,” Omar wrote on Twitter.

Pertinently, Jammu and Kashmir government’s spokesperson and minister for Public Words Department Naeem Akhtar in an interview to an English daily linked China’s consistent vetoing to designate chief of Jaish-e-Muhammad militant outfit Masood Azhar as a “terrorist in United Nations” with Kashmir situation.

“Such things don’t happen without a reason and China’s connection with Jaish needs to be understood,” Akhtar was quoted as saying in the report.
