Says CM Omar, cabinet ministers leading from front, spearheading relief, rescue efforts
SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial President Kashmir, Showkat Ahmad Mir Saturday said that while the opposition parties remain engrossed in political gimmickry and manufactured controversies, the Omar Abdullah-led elected government is working relentlessly on multiple fronts to provide relief and respite to the people.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters, Nawa-e-Subha, Mir said that the A, B and C teams of the BJP: the PDP, Apni Party and People’s Conference are sinking to new lows by raising issues that have little relevance to the aspirations and day-to-day concerns of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “Their politics only serves to reinforce the BJP-RSS narrative, whereas the National Conference government is focused on governance, development and safeguarding the constitutional rights of the people,” he said.
Mir said that on the development front, the Omar Abdullah government has accelerated work on vital civic and public infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir, while simultaneously pursuing the constitutional and democratic struggle for the restoration of the rights of the people, including the restoration of statehood. “Our leader Omar Abdullah has taken this peaceful and constitutional battle to New Delhi with dignity, conviction and perseverance,” he added.
Referring to the recent spell of torrential rains, flash floods and landslides, Mir said the natural calamity has put the government to a severe test, but the elected administration has responded with resolve and compassion. “Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has led from the front. The entire cabinet is on the ground, personally monitoring rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts. While the BJP and its political satellites remain conspicuously absent from the affected areas, our ministers have travelled to remote and vulnerable regions, often risking their own safety to reach distressed families.”
He noted that Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmad and Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary themselves had a narrow escape while visiting flood-affected areas, underscoring the commitment of the government to stand with the people in their hour of need. “The Chief Minister has been visiting affected areas continuously, ensuring that no region or community feels abandoned. The administration has been put on its toes and every possible effort is being made to provide timely relief and expedite restoration works,” Mir said.
He urged the opposition to rise above petty politics during this difficult period and contribute constructively to the welfare of the people instead of indulging in propaganda and misinformation.
