Says 356 of 435 damaged roads restored
Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reviewed the damage caused by heavy rainfall, floods, and landslides in Rajouri and Poonch. He held discussions with senior officials and Deputy Commissioners to assess the impact on property and public infrastructure.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized ongoing monitoring of the situation and directed district administrations and departments to work tirelessly in close coordination for rescue, relief, and restoration operations. He appealed to citizens to avoid non-essential travel in vulnerable areas and adhere strictly to safety advisories issued by local authorities.
In a post on X, he stated: “I spoke with senior officials and the DCs of Rajouri and Poonch to assess damage to houses and critical infrastructure caused by heavy rains, flash floods, and landslides. The Divisional Commissioner and IG Jammu are on the ground. I have instructed all departments to work around the clock to manage rescue, relief, and restoration efforts, with a focus on reopening key roads and restoring power and water supplies.”
He added: “Out of 435 damaged roads, 356 have already been repaired. I urge citizens to avoid non-essential travel in vulnerable areas and follow safety advisories.”
Teams from SDRF, NDRF, Army, BRO, NHAI, J&K Police, and Civil Defence are working together, with Quick Response teams deployed in at-risk zones. Sinha expressed deep anguish over the loss of lives and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He prayed for the swift recovery of those injured.
