SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr. Moulvi Mohammad Umar Farooq, in a post on X, expressed deep grief over the tragic loss of seven members of a family in Poonch after a landslide triggered by heavy rains.
Mirwaiz said, “Another heartbreaking tragedy in Poonch, where seven members of a family lost their lives after a landslide triggered by heavy rains. May Allah grant Jannat-ul-Firdous to them. The continuing loss of lives and devastation across Poonch and Rajouri is deeply distressing.”
Referring to the situation in Srinagar, Mirwaiz said, “Meanwhile, widespread waterlogging across Srinagar city is a stark reminder that a city does not become ‘smart’ through cosmetic overhauls alone. The repeated flooding raises serious questions about whether the basic drainage infrastructure was adequately prioritised under the Smart City project.”
