SRINAGAR: In a remarkable testament to its unwavering commitment towards Nation-Building and the Socio-Economic Empowerment of Border Communities, the Dagger Division under Chinar Corps, in collaboration with the Bank of New York (BNY) and the International Association for Human Values (IAHV), on Saturday inaugurated the newly upgraded Government Boys Middle School at Khabna in the Uri sector of Baramulla district.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by senior military leadership, eminent representatives from BNY and IAHV, members of the civil administration, education department officials, village elders, and enthusiastic students whose aspirations stand at the heart of this transformative initiative.
Nestled amidst the picturesque yet strategically significant border region of Uri, Government Boys Middle School has served as a beacon of hope for children belonging to economically disadvantaged families from surrounding villages. However, years of infrastructural inadequacies had constrained its ability to provide a conducive academic environment.
The newly inaugurated infrastructure comprises a state-of-the-art six-classroom academic block designed to facilitate an engaging and contemporary learning experience, a modern Mid-Day Meal (MDM) kitchen ensuring hygienic preparation and distribution of nutritious meals to students, and two newly constructed sanitation blocks, significantly enhancing hygiene, dignity, and overall student well-being.
The initiative exemplifies the Indian Army’s enduring philosophy that security and development are complementary pillars of lasting peace. Beyond safeguarding the nation’s frontiers, the Army continues to champion initiatives that uplift local communities through education, healthcare, infrastructure development, and humanitarian outreach.
