Terminates membership of six former office bearers for failing to hand over financial records; Association warns against unauthorised use of its name, logo

SRINAGAR: The State Executive Body of the Private Schools’ Association Jammu & Kashmir (PSAJK), in its meeting held on Saturday under the chairmanship of Dr. Baba Nazrul Islam, unanimously rejected all rumours regarding any division within the Association and reaffirmed that PSAJK remains united, democratically elected, and fully committed to safeguarding the interests of private educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Dr. Baba Nazrul Islam stated that following the retirement of former State President Mr. G.N. Var, the then State Executive Council unanimously elected him as State President on an interim basis until elections of all district units were completed. Thereafter, free, fair, and transparent elections were successfully conducted across all districts, and the newly elected district representatives subsequently constituted the State Executive Body, which democratically elected Dr. Baba Nazrul Islam as State President in accordance with the Association’s Constitution.
The State Executive Body categorically clarified that there is only one recognised and democratically elected Private Schools’ Association Jammu & Kashmir (PSAJK), and no individual or group has any legal authority to operate, represent, or collect funds under the name “Private Schools’ Association Jammu & Kashmir (PSAJK)” or use its registered name, logo, letterhead, identity, or official insignia without authorisation.
The Executive Body expressed serious concern that after the completion of the democratic election process, a few former office bearers failed to submit financial records and account details of district units entrusted to them, allegedly attempting to create confusion among private school managements and the public. After detailed deliberations, the State Executive Body unanimously resolved to terminate the basic membership of the following individuals:
1. Mr. Mohammad Syed Wani – Ex District President, Anantnag
2. Mr. Bilal Bhat – Ex District President, Srinagar
3. Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Rather – Ex Vice President, PSAJK
4. Mr. Waseem Siddiqi – Ex District President, Kulgam
5. Mr. Hilal Ahmad – Ex Coordinator, Shopian
6. Mr. Yasir Bhat – Ex Coordinator, Bandipora
The Association informed all member schools that the above-mentioned individuals are no longer members or office bearers of PSAJK and are not authorised to represent the Association or act on its behalf. All private school managements are advised not to pay any membership fee, contribution, donation, or any other amount in the name of PSAJK to these individuals or to any unauthorised person. The Association warned that any continued unauthorised use of its name, logo, letterhead, identity, or collection of funds shall compel the Association to initiate strict civil and criminal legal proceedings.
The Executive Body reiterated its long-standing demand for greater academic autonomy for private schools and urged the Government to create an enabling educational environment where private institutions are empowered to innovate and strengthen academic excellence. The meeting further resolved to pursue promotion of environmental sustainability, green campuses, and waste segregation initiatives, as well as capacity-building programmes for school leaders and teachers.
The State Executive Body appealed to all private school managements to remain united under the democratically elected leadership of PSAJK and not to be misled by unauthorised individuals attempting to misuse the Association’s name.
