BANDIPORA: Kamraz Football Championship Kicks off at the Sports Stadium, Naidkhai, on Saturday with the inaugural match being played between Kamraz FC Naidkhai and FC Jhelum Sumbal.
The tournament was formally inaugurated by former footballer Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani in the presence of District Football Association (DFA) Sonawari President Asim Aijaz, Showkat Ahmad Hurra, Mohammad Iqbal, Mudabir Qureshi, Touseef Ahmad, Mohammad Altaf and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani said such tournaments provide a valuable platform for young footballers to showcase their talent while promoting sportsmanship and a healthy sporting culture among the youth.
DFA Sonawari President Asim Aijaz said the championship aims to encourage grassroots football and identify emerging talent from the region. He urged young players to participate with discipline and dedication, adding that sporting events play a vital role in steering youth towards positive and constructive activities.
A large number of football enthusiasts witnessed the opening match, marking the beginning of what organisers described as a competitive and vibrant football championship.
