SRINAGAR: The Private Schools’ Association of Jammu & Kashmir (PSAJK) participated in a high-level seminar on “Protection of the Natural Environment of J&K” organised by the Group of Concerned Citizens (GCC), J&K, under the chairmanship of Khursheed Ahmad Ganai (Retd. IAS), with Dr. Karan Singh, former Sadr-e-Riyasat of Jammu and Kashmir, eminent scholar, and distinguished statesman, as the Chief Guest.
Representing PSAJK, Dr. Baba Nazrul Islam (President), Mr. Mubashir Wafai, and Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Wagnoo (Chairman, Moral Education, Environment, Rehabilitation Committee – MEERC, PSAJK) participated in the deliberations on environmental conservation and sustainable development.
During the interaction, the PSAJK delegation briefed Dr. Karan Singh about the Association’s ongoing Green Campus Initiative, which is being implemented across member schools to promote environmental stewardship among students. The delegation also extended an invitation to Dr. Karan Singh to participate in the upcoming Green Campus Conference.
As a major outcome of the seminar, MEERC-PSAJK resolved to carry forward the Srinagar Declaration 2026 to every school and every child across Jammu and Kashmir. To translate this vision into action, a comprehensive workshop will be held on July 6, 2026, to prepare a practical roadmap for schools aimed at expanding the outreach and impact of the Green Campus Programme.
PSAJK also congratulated Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Wagnoo, Chairman MEERC and NALCO, whose unwavering efforts in environmental conservation, ecological restoration, and public awareness were widely appreciated by the Group of Concerned Citizens during the seminar.
Dr. Baba Nazrul Islam reiterated that environmental education must become an integral part of school life and emphasized that PSAJK is committed to nurturing environmentally conscious citizens through sustained awareness, plantation drives, biodiversity conservation, and green campus practices.
