Man Dies After Alleged Assault Over Land Dispute in Thanamandi, Rajouri

Jammu: A 45-year-old man died during treatment at GMC Rajouri after he was allegedly assaulted over a land dispute in Behrote, Thanamandi.

Officials said that Munir Hussain, son of Hassan Mohammad and a resident of Behrote, was allegedly attacked with wooden sticks by three family members on June 16 around 3:00 pm. The injured was first taken to PHC Thanamandi and later referred to GMC Rajouri, where he succumbed during treatment.

Shamim Akhter, wife of the deceased, submitted a written application alleging that Mohd Razaq, Najma Kausar, and Mehtab Ahmed—all residents of Behrote—assaulted her husband following a dispute over land.

Based on the complaint, FIR No. 77/2026 under Sections 109, 115(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered at Police Station Thanamandi. Further investigation is underway, a police officer said.(GNS)
