Srinagar Police Attach Properties Worth ₹1.5 Crore of Drug Peddlers Under NDPS Act

Srinagar: Srinagar Police have attached immovable properties worth ₹1.5 crore belonging to two alleged drug peddlers under the NDPS Act, 1985, as part of the ongoing _Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan_.

In a handout, the police said the action targets assets acquired through proceeds of narcotics trafficking to dismantle the financial network of drug trade.

Police Station Batamaloo attached a three-storey residential house worth ₹80 lakh at Nundresh Colony, Muslimabad, Srinagar, belonging to Sikander Firdous, son of Abdul Rehman Ahanger. Firdous is booked in FIR No. 18/2022 under Sections 8/21/29/27-A of the NDPS Act and Sections 468, 471 and 473 of the IPC. The attachment was made under Section 68F(1) read with Section 68E of the NDPS Act.

In a separate action, Police Station Kralkhud attached a single-storey house worth ₹70 lakh belonging to Ghulam Hassan Bhat, son of Late Abdul Rahim Bhat, a resident of Mirgund Kanalwan, Bijbehara, Anantnag. Bhat is facing FIR No. 20/2022 under Sections 8/20/29 of the NDPS Act. The property has been attached under Section 68F of the Act and the order has been submitted to SAFEMA, New Delhi, for further proceedings. The owner has been barred from selling, leasing, transferring, or creating any third-party interest in the property.

Police said investigations established that both properties were acquired through illicit narcotics trade.

Srinagar Police reiterated their commitment to eradicating drug abuse and trafficking and urged the public to share information on drug peddling and substance abuse to support efforts toward a drug-free society, reads the statement. (GNS)
