216 players from 18 zones participate in two-day district-level tournament
BARAMULLA: Inter-Zonal District Level Kho Kho Competition for Under-14 Boys commenced with great enthusiasm and sporting fervouron Thursday at HS Khawaja Bagh Ground, Baramulla.
The prestigious two-day championship is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Baramulla under its annual sports calendar with the objective of identifying and nurturing young sporting talent across the district.
The championship was formally inaugurated by District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Baramulla, Mushtaq Ahmad Pampori, in the presence of Activity Incharges Mubeen Ahmad Khan (PEM) and Shabir Ahmad Thoker (PEM), along with technical officials, field staff, team managers, and participating athletes.
A total of 18 zonal teams comprising 216 players from different educational zones of Baramulla district are participating in the tournament. The competition is being conducted on a league format, ensuring maximum exposure and competitive opportunities for all teams, with each team scheduled to play four matches during the championship.
Speaking on the occasion, DYSSO Baramulla highlighted the importance of sports in shaping the character, discipline, leadership qualities, and overall personality development of young students. He encouraged the athletes to exhibit the true spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork, and fair play while striving for excellence on the field.
He further emphasized that the Department of Youth Services and Sports remains committed to providing quality sporting platforms to students across the district and creating opportunities for talented athletes to showcase their abilities at higher levels of competition.
The championship will continue over the next two days, culminating in the crowning of the district champions after a series of league matches.
