Senior Assistant arrested; accused entered service through fraudulent means

Srinagar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of Crime Branch J&K has conducted searches in connection with a recruitment scam and arrested Shahnawaz Ahmad Mir, a Senior Assistant in the Health Department and resident of Tankipora Shaheed Gunj, Srinagar, for his alleged involvement in multiple fraudulent appointment cases.
The case, registered as FIR No. 19/2017 under Sections 420, 467, 468, and 471 RPC at Police Station Crime Branch Kashmir (now EOW Kashmir), originated from a communication received from the Deputy Director Health Services Kashmir, indicating that one Bashir Ahmad Sofi of Mazhama, Budgam, had fraudulently secured his appointment as a Health Educator by producing forged transfer orders and a fabricated Last Pay Certificate.
Investigation revealed that the accused illegally entered service at Block Sheeri, Baramulla, and drew salary, causing wrongful loss to the state exchequer.
Further investigation has revealed Shahnawaz Ahmad Mir’s involvement in multiple similar cases, which are under probe or have been charge-sheeted. Further investigation in the instant case is ongoing.
