Srinagar: In a significant action against drug trafficking, J&K Police has attached a residential property under the provisions of the NDPS Act in Budgam.
The attached property is a single-storey residential house belonging to Shabir Ahmad Mir, son of Gh. Rasool Mir, resident of Waragam, Tehsil Beerwah, District Budgam, a police spokesperson said, adding that the property has been identified as having been illegally acquired through proceeds of narcotics-related activities.
“The attachment/freezing has been carried out under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 35/2023 registered at Police Station Beerwah. The said property has been formally seized, and the owner has been prohibited from selling, leasing, transferring, or creating any third-party interest in the said asset,” he said.
This action reflects the firm resolve of Police to curb the drug menace by targeting illegally acquired assets of drug peddlers and dismantling the financial networks sustaining the narcotics trade, the spokesperson said.
Police have urged the general public to cooperate and share information regarding drug abuse or trafficking, assuring that any information shared will be treated with strict confidentiality.
