‘How will few honest workers respond to Sheesh Mahal 2’
NEW DELHI: Aday after quitting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and joining the BJP, Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha on Saturday launched a sharp attack on his former boss Arvind Kejriwal over the “Sheesh Mahal 2.0” controversy and wondered how the “few remaining good workers” of the party would respond when asked about it.
Speaking to a news agency, Chadha said, “Today, Sheesh Mahal Part Two has come in Delhi. Some pictures of it have surfaced. If there was one major reason for the Aam Aadmi Party’s loss in the Delhi elections, the Sheesh Mahal was one of the main reasons for the party’s defeat. But today, not even a year has passed since the Delhi elections ended, and Sheesh Mahal Part Two has come.”
Chadha wondered “how the few remaining good workers of the Aam Aadmi Party will respond when people in the streets and localities ask them questions about Sheesh Mahal.”
Chadha, who was one of the fiercest critics of the BJP and its policies before taking the saffron plunge, further asked the Aam Aadmi Party to “introspect and think about it.”
His remarks came hours after BJP leader and Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma on Saturday accused Kejriwal of abandoning his claims of a simple lifestyle and embracing luxury, citing his new official residence in the national capital.
He alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which rose to power on promises of clean governance and modest living, has drifted from its founding ideals.
“Those who call themselves the Aam Aadmi Party today, they live like kings. There is nothing wrong with that. Let them live, but then don’t call yourself the Aam Aadmi Party,” Verma said.
He went on to describe the residence as “Sheesh Mahal 2”, alleging that it follows an earlier controversy around Kejriwal’s official accommodation.
Sharing purported pictures from inside the residence, which the AAP has termed fake, Verma claimed it resembled a luxury property. “Looking at this house, does it seem like an ordinary person’s house? This is Kejriwal’s bedroom. It looks like a seven-star hotel suite in Goa… 95 Lodhi Estate, their new Sheesh Mahal. Each penny invested in this house is private,” he alleged.
