SRINAGAR: Social Welfare Department (SWD) Srinagar, conducted an awareness programme on Thursday at Government Polytechnic College for Women, Bemina, with the objective of sensitizing students and faculty members about a wide range of women-centric schemes, social security initiatives, and financial assistance programmes being implemented by various line departments.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and officials from SANKALP-HEW Srinagar. It aimed to disseminate comprehensive information about government-sponsored welfare schemes designed to empower women, strengthen social protection mechanisms, and extend financial support to vulnerable sections of society.
During the session, officials elaborated on several key initiatives focused on women’s empowerment, including programmes related to education, livelihood generation, healthcare support, and rehabilitation services. Detailed insights were also provided on social security measures such as pension schemes for widows, senior citizens, and specially-abled individuals, along with financial assistance programmes for economically weaker sections.
The SANKALP-HEW team emphasized the critical role of awareness and accessibility in ensuring the success of these schemes. Students were encouraged to act as information ambassadors within their communities, helping to bridge the gap between beneficiaries and available government support.
Potential beneficiaries were also urged to come forward and take full advantage of these initiatives. An interactive session followed, where participants actively engaged with officials, seeking clarification on eligibility criteria, application procedures, and required documentation.
The department reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots outreach and its mission to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach every deserving individual.
