SRINAGAR: The Indian Army organized a transformative summer camp, ‘Hirri Horizon,’ at Pathahirri, Kupwara, from April 2 to April 8, 2026. This pioneering initiative aimed to empower young girls from the remote areas of the district through a holistic blend of skill development, sports, recreational, and adventure activities.
Enthusiastic girls from various villages and schools participated in the camp, engaging in a diverse range of activities including Badminton, Self-Defence (Wushu), Baking, Stitching, Tailoring, and Computer classes. The camp also featured firing practice by NCC cadets, a plantation drive, and motivational lectures delivered by women officers of the Indian Army. The immersive experience was designed to foster physical fitness, mental resilience, self-confidence, and social responsibility among the participants.
The camp provided a unique platform for these young girls to enhance their potential, build confidence, and develop valuable skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. The efforts of the Chinar Warriors were highly appreciated by the participants, their parents, and village officials, who expressed gratitude for the initiative and requested similar camps in the future.
By investing in education and empowerment, the Indian Army continues to strengthen civil-military relations, spread awareness, and extend education to remote and border areas, contributing to broader nation-building efforts.
