Hails ‘pro-poor’ push

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial President Showkat Mir Saturday termed the resolution of long-pending issues faced by government employees as a significant and welcome development, reflecting the strong commitment of the Omar Abdullah-led government towards the welfare of its workforce and economically vulnerable sections.
In a statement issued here, Adv. Showkat appreciated the clearance of GP Fund dues up to December 2025, along with the release of all pending pension commutation bills and gratuity payments till date, describing the move as highly commendable and long overdue.
He said that the government employees had been waiting for these payments for years and that prolonged delays and bureaucratic bottlenecks during previous administrations had caused immense financial strain and mental stress among employees and their families.
Mir said that such decisive and people-centric interventions will not only restore the confidence of government employees but also strengthen institutional credibility and enhance administrative efficiency across departments.
Congratulating the Omar Abdullah-led government on this important decision, Showkat Mir expressed hope that the administration will continue to undertake similar pro-poor and reform-driven initiatives aimed at strengthening governance and ensuring the welfare and dignity of all sections of society.
