JAMMU: The 19th UT Wushu Championship commenced on Saturday at the Indoor Sports Hall Bhagwati Nagar, witnessing enthusiastic participation from across the Union Territory.
The event was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Secretary of the Sports Council, Nuzat Gull, who extended her blessings and encouraged all participants to perform with dedication, discipline, and sportsmanship. She emphasized the importance of sports participation and appreciated the efforts of the Wushu Association of J&K in promoting grassroots talent.
Over 1,000 players from various districts of J&K are taking part in the Championship, demonstrating remarkable enthusiasm and a competitive spirit.
On the occasion, Guest of Honour Vijay Sharaf, along with Sanjay Agarwal, Miss Bhavneet Kaur (Secretary, Wushu Association J&K), and Kamal Kishore (Organising Secretary), graced the event. The proceedings were smoothly managed by members of the Wushu Association of J&K, including Maqsood Rather, Yashpal Aijaz, Irfan, Atul Sharma, Abhishek Jamwal, Kannav Sharma, Rohit Thakyal, and Tanshiv Raina.
The championship aims to provide a competitive platform for young athletes and to identify emerging talent at the grassroots level.
