RPHQ Baramulla holds training on prosecution of UAPA, NDPS cases

BARAMULLA: Range Police Headquarters (RPHQ) Baramulla on Saturday concluded a two-day range-level training programme on prosecution and conviction in cases registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The training programme was organised at the Conference Hall of District Police Lines Baramulla as part of the ongoing capacity building initiative of J&K Police to enhance the professional skills of field officers across North Kashmir.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) North Kashmir Range, Maqsood-ul-Zaman (IPS), inaugurated the programme. The valedictory session was attended by the Additional Superintendent of Police, Baramulla, along with other senior officers and officials of RPHQ Baramulla.
During the programme, technical sessions were conducted by experts from the judiciary, prosecution, Narcotics Control Bureau and J&K Police.
The sessions focused on procedures under UAPA, enforcement of NDPS laws, forensic sampling, bridging investigation gaps, strengthening evidence collection and analysis of case studies.
Officers of the rank of Deputy Superintendents of Police, Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors from various districts of North Kashmir range participated in the training and actively took part in the discussions.
Certificates were distributed among the participants during the valedictory ceremony, while mementoes were presented to the guest speakers in recognition of their contribution.
Speaking on the occasion, DIG North Kashmir Range Maqsood-ul-Zaman said such training programmes are aimed at improving investigation standards and ensuring effective prosecution of cases in courts.
He urged officers to apply the knowledge gained during the programme in the field so that investigations lead to successful convictions.
Police said the programme was an important step towards strengthening the professional capabilities of field officers and improving the overall quality of investigations.
