‘Gandhi family repeatedly compromises national interests’
NEW DELHI: Expressing deep anger over the Youth Congress ‘shirtless protest’ at Bharat Mandapam during the India AI Impact Summit, the Bharatiya Janata Party today trained guns at the Gandhi family, calling it their continuous effort to tarnish the country’s image before the world and compromise it.
Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Nirmala Sitharaman today slammed the Gandhi family, alleging that it has a bigger conspiracy to repeatedly compromise national interests.
Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi compromised the country by pursuing their own politics on behalf of the Super PM.
BJP targeted the Gandhi family for allegedly running the government through the National Advisory Council, and imposed a leftist ideology on the country during the Manmohan Singh regime.
Piyush Goyal said, “Sometimes, they even tore up cabinet decisions in front of the press. Disrespecting the Prime Minister, running the government through the National Advisory Council, and imposing a leftist ideology on the country? Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi used to run a parallel cabinet and compromise the country.”
The Union Minister alleged that the Gandhi family is completely putting the interests of the countrymen at stake, and perhaps they cannot tolerate the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the new India, the emerging economy, and India’s dominance in the emerging world. Therefore, they repeatedly compromise national and national interests by telling lies upon lies, said the Minister.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal called Rahul Gandhi the poster boy of negative politics. Describing him as a compromised Rahul Gandhi, Goyal mentioned about his alleged ties with anti-national forces.
Goyal alleged that Gandhi associates with “people who have links with countries like China and Pakistan and with Soros,” and claimed that such engagements undermine the country.
He said, “You all know the kind of anti-national forces he has ties to. How he arranges meetings with Ilhan Omar, Soros’s partner, and whose illegal connections with George Soros continue to surface. How he travels to the border-sensitive region of Ladakh and establishes relations with foreign individuals working against India’s interests, like Shakir Mirali. We all see repeatedly how Rahul Gandhi compromises his country with Soros and individuals with links to countries like China and Pakistan. How he repeatedly uses the toolkits of organisations like OCCRP to weaken India economically and harm its economy…”
Piyush Goyal alleged that it wasn’t just Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi who compromised the country, but Rajiv Gandhi also never shied away from compromising the country.
He referred to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in connection with the Bofors case. “Even Rajiv Gandhi never backed down from compromising the country. We all know that in the Bofors scandal, the Foreign Minister tried to stop the Swedish investigation under Gandhi’s directives. To save his friend Ottavio Quattrocchi, an honest investigation was not allowed in Bofors. I don’t know what Congress and Rajiv Gandhi’s hand was in Bofors,” Goyal said.
Questioning the conduct of the Congress party in a democracy, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the party should regret this forever, just like the way they regret the Emergency. She further asserted that the country will keep reminding them of this shameful exercise.
She said, “Much before criticising Indians & calling the AI Summit a sham, you’re making a sham of yourself. Is this the way to protest in a democracy? Congress party should regret this like the way they regret the Emergency – Forever. They will never get out of this. The country will keep reminding them of this shameful exercise.”
Targeting former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Piyush Goyal alleged that her tenure also saw compromises of national interest. “We saw how Ambassador Moynihan confirmed that the CIA used to provide funds to Congress repeatedly for elections. Congress used to run its politics through the CIA. We saw in the Mitrokhin Archives how the KGB used to give money in suitcases to compromise Indira Gandhi. Stories of this Gandhi family’s compromises are seen again and again,” he said.
“This money from the KGB used to go directly to the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s house — this is written in the Mitrokhin Archives. In the 1971 Shimla Agreement, we released 93,000 Pakistanis… Why didn’t they take Pakistan-occupied Kashmir?… Compromised Congress will have to answer,” Goyal added.
