Jammu: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday expressed regret over his remarks in the Legislative Assembly and left it to the Speaker to expunge any unparliamentary words, if found, from his speech.

Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, the CM, said he regretted the remarks made in the House the previous day.

“What I said may have hurt them. I regret that. But my remarks were directed against them, not against their family members,” he clarified.

Referring to Leader of Opposition Sunil Kumar Sharma as a “field commander” and “general,” Omar alleged that Sharma had dragged his grandfather and parents into the issue.

Taking a dig at Sharma, the CM remarked: “We needed to compliment such a force which is still in the battleground despite their general fleeing. I would have never left such a force alone.”

The CM requested the Speaker to expunge any unparliamentary remarks made by him during his speech.

“Had they allowed me to speak yesterday, I would have withdrawn my remarks. I had asked you to give me one minute to speak, but their field commander was not ready,” he said—(KNO)
