A Tribute To Bashir Saeb – The Teacher Who Walked Beside Us, Not Ahead

Must read

Mohammad Amin Parray, popularly known as Bashir Saeb, was more than an educator; he was a moral compass, a companion, a legacy of equal care

Sometimes, a single person’s presence becomes so deeply woven into our lives that their absence feels louder than any sound. When such a person leaves this world, they leave behind an emptiness that words struggle to describe. The guidance they once offered, the comfort in their voice, and the wisdom in their counsel suddenly turn into memories we long to relive. It is in this quiet that grief truly speaks, reminding us how much they meant to us.
Teachers are far more than conveyors of lessons from books. They are the unseen hands that shape society, mould character, and plant the seeds of future generations. Every student carries the imprint of their teachers throughout life. Among all those who guided me on this path, one teacher stands apart with special reverence and gratitude — Mohammad Amin Parray, lovingly known as Bashir Saeb.
This is not just a story of a teacher; it is a tribute to a man who taught with his heart as much as with his mind. Bashir Saeb never walked ahead of us like a commander, nor behind us like a supervisor. He walked beside us like a companion. His classroom was not merely a place of lessons; it was a space where values were nurtured, and confidence was built.
At Government Middle School Hajin, where he taught us, Bashir Saeb became more than a teacher — he became a friend, a guide, and a moral compass. His history lessons were not dry narrations of dates and events; they were living stories that made us understand the past and reflect on the present. He had a rare gift of making learning meaningful.
I still remember how we would rejoice when school was about to end for the day, joking among ourselves that “today we will surely be beaten.” But behind that childish fear was deep affection and respect. His discipline was never harsh; it was rooted in fairness. He never discriminated between students — whether they were rich or poor, relatives or strangers, strong or weak. To him, every student was equal, and every mind deserved the same care.
My classmates — Imran Muzaffar, Khalid Mehraj, Waseem Mir, Mohd Ayoub, Waqar, Danish, Waseem Parray, and many others — will surely remember those days with the same warmth and longing. Bashir Saeb treated everyone with the same sincerity, never showing bias or favouritism. Such integrity is rare and unforgettable.
Today, with his passing, a chapter of our lives has come to a close forever. The void he leaves behind will not be easily filled. Yet his legacy lives on — in the students he shaped, the values he instilled, and the discipline he taught with compassion.
A teacher truly never dies. He continues to live in the success of his students, in their conduct, and in their conscience.
May Almighty Allah grant Bashir Saeb the highest place in Jannah and give strength to his family and loved ones.
His lessons will remain with us — not only in our minds, but in our lives.
Gone from sight, but never from memory.
A teacher, a guide, and an inspiration — forever.
