Srinagar: Power supply was disrupted in parts of Srinagar and several other districts of Kashmir on Friday after strong gusty winds damaged electricity infrastructure, officials said
An official spokesperson of the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) said that the gusty winds caused damage to power installations, affecting supply in multiple areas.
“The damage to power infrastructure has impacted several 33kV feeders. Our ground teams are working continuously in difficult weather conditions to restore the affected feeders at the earliest,” the spokesperson said.
KPDCL has urged the public to exercise caution and stay away from fallen electric poles, hanging wires or damaged structures to avoid any untoward incidents.
People have also been advised to report any such hazards to the concerned authorities immediately.
The power utility appreciated the patience and cooperation of consumers, saying restoration work is underway and supply will be normalized in a phased manner.
