i10 car skids off on Sonamarg bypass, 3 injured, two referred to SKIMS Soura

SONAMARG: At least three persons were injured after a vehicle skidded off the road and plunged down an embankment along the Sonamarg bypass road on Saturday evening, officials said.

They said the accident occurred when an i10 car bearing registration number JK01N/5556 lost control while negotiating a curve on the bypass stretch near Sonamarg. The vehicle skidded due to slippery road conditions and fell off the roadway, causing injuries to all passengers travelling in the car.

A CCTV footage of the accident, captured by a nearby surveillance camera, has also surfaced and gone viral on social media, showing the moment the vehicle lost balance and rolled off the road.

The injured have been identified as Danish Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohideen Sheikh, resident of Gagangir Gund; Yasir Ahmad Khan, son of Bilal Ahmad Khan, resident of Sarbal, Sonamarg; and Arif Ahmad Lone (driver), son of Farooq Ahmad Lone, resident of Gagangir Gund.

Soon after the mishap, locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to PHC Sonamarg. After preliminary treatment, Danish Ahmad Sheikh and Yasir Ahmad Khan were referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment, while the driver was stated to be in stable condition at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, Sonamarg police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated necessary proceedings.
