SRINAGAR: The Private Schools Association Jammu & Kashmir (PSAJK) has taken a significant step towards ensuring transparent and democratic elections within the organization. The association has officially announced the formation of an independent Election Commission tasked with overseeing and conducting the upcoming elections in a fair and timely manner.
The newly constituted Election Commission comprises a distinguished panel of members, including retired educational and legal experts, civil society representatives, and prominent figures from the private school sector.
Notable members include Mr. G.N. Var, a retired ex-president of PSAJK, and Mr. Mohammed Rafi, former Director of School Education Kashmir, who will serve as an observer. The commission also includes other respected personalities such as Mr. Qayoom Wani, chairman of Civil Society, legal expert Adv. Tehseen Ahmad, and representatives from various districts and educational institutions.
In a recent meeting, the advisory committee of PSAJK resolved that the election process will be conducted in three phases across all districts of the Union Territory. The decision aims to promote a transparent, democratic, and efficient electoral process.
The PSAJK has urged all district bodies affiliated with it to complete the electoral rolls of their members and submit them to the central office in Bemina before January 30, 2026.
