SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah Friday extended warm greetings to the people on the 814th annual Urs of Hindal Wali Hazrat Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz, Moinuddin Chishti (RA) of Ajmer Sharif.

In his message, Dr. Abdullah said that the Urs of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (RA) is a sacred occasion that reminds humanity of the timeless values of love, compassion, equality and selfless service to mankind. He noted that Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti (RA) played a historic role in strengthening India’s syncretic culture by preaching a message that transcended barriers of religion, caste, region and language.

Dr. Abdullah said that the great Sufi saint’s teachings of “love for all and malice towards none” laid the foundation for communal harmony and peaceful coexistence, which remain deeply relevant in today’s world marked by intolerance and division. He emphasized that the Dargah at Ajmer Sharif has, for centuries, been a symbol of unity, where people from all walks of life bow their heads in reverence, seeking peace and solace.

Dr. Farooq Abdullah offered Friday congregational prayers at the revered Asar-e-Sharief Dargah, Hazratbal.

Amidst a large gathering of devotees, Dr. Farooq joined the devotees in solemn prayer at the sacred shrine, which holds immense spiritual and cultural significance for the people of Jammu & Kashmir. He prayed for lasting peace and prosperity in J&K and Ladakh.
