Tilak Varma named ‘Impact Player’ as India beats South Africa in T20Is

NEW DELHI: Indian batter Tilak Varma was honoured with the “Impact Player of the Series” award by Team India’s training assistant Raghavindraa Dvgi for his outstanding performances with the bat throughout the series. This came after Tilak’s team won in the T20Is against South Africa making it India’s eighth consecutive win in the T20I series.

Tilak’s team beat South Africa by 30 runs in the final T20I at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Friday, December 19, 2025. Scoring a total of 73 runs in 42 balls, with 10 fours and 1 six, he contributed to securing the team’s win.

Upon receiving the award, Tilak expressed his happiness on winning it for the second time, and being presented it by Raghavindraa Dvgi. He was also proud of the way the team played under pressure and hopes that they carry the same attitude into the upcoming NZ series and the T20 World Cup.

Tilak has come at number three in batting numbers with a total of 542 runs scored in 15 matches with an average of 60.22 and a strike rate of over 160 along with two centuries and three fifties and a best score of 120.

In the first T20I, coming in at number four, he scored 26 runs in 32 balls helping India recover from 48/3. In the second T20I, he played remarkably with 62 runs scored off 34 balls. In the third T20I, Tilak contributed to India’s chase of 118 while batting at number three. In the final T20I, he scored 73 off 42 balls, forming a century stand with Hardik Pandya and steering India towards victory.

With this win, Team India’s dominance in the T20I series continues, establishing Tilak Varma as a promising star capable of performing well under high-pressure situations a delivering when it matters.
