SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Friday appealed to the people of Kashmir to offer prayers for adequate snowfall to break the prolonged dry spell prevailing across the Valley.
He expressed serious concern over the continuing absence of snowfall, stating that the situation has begun to adversely impact public health, agriculture, horticulture, and overall environmental balance.
He noted that the dry weather has led to a sharp rise in respiratory ailments, water scarcity and declining moisture levels in the soil, posing challenges for farmers and orchardists alike. Stressing the cultural and ecological importance of snowfall in Kashmir, he said that timely snow is vital for replenishing water resources, sustaining livelihoods, and maintaining climatic stability.
Dr Farooq urged people to collectively seek divine intervention through prayers, hoping for relief from the ongoing dry conditions.
