Mr Muzafar Ahmad Lone, popularly known as Lone Muzi, is a teacher by profession, a distinguished educationist, a social reformer, a renowned cartoonist, and above all, a highly respected teacher-trainer.
Hailing from the small village of Pariwan in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, Mr Lone completed his postgraduation and BEd from the University of Kashmir. He began his teaching career in 2011 as a primary school teacher in his own village. Being young, qualified, and versatile, he consciously chose to tackle the challenge of low student enrolment, a problem largely caused by the increasing presence of private educational institutions in the area.
Through his innovative teaching methods, sincere efforts, and compassionate approach, qualities for which he is widely admired, he raised the school’s enrolment from 17 to 150 students within a remarkably short period. Although the change was initially slow, the villagers soon recognised how deeply Mr Lone was nurturing the future of their children with dedication and hard work. Their trust in him led to a significant rise in enrolment, and he was later honoured with the Best Teacher Award for his exceptional contribution.
Recognising his potential and expertise, the Education Department began engaging him as a teacher-trainer during his leisure time, with the aim of disseminating his teaching style and successful strategies across the district. His services continue even during the current winter vacation at DIET Kulgam. Owing to the visible impact of his training programmes, other institutions such as DIET Anantnag and DIET Shopian have repeatedly invited him for capacity-building and training of their staff.
Mr Lone is also an expert in the use of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) in education, particularly in the application of 3D animation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for classroom teaching. He has conducted numerous training sessions at the school, district, and state levels on emerging technologies and their transformative role in modern education.
Apart from his educational achievements, Mr Lone is a celebrated cartoonist. His artwork highlights pressing social issues such as dowry, gender discrimination, environmental degradation, drug abuse, and other contemporary challenges. Through his artistic vision, he spreads awareness and encourages people to reflect on these issues and adopt meaningful solutions.
