SRINAGAR: In its continued crackdown against drug menace, police in Shopian recovered 1.2 kg cannabis from a residential house in Zainapora.
“Acting on specific information, Police Station Zainapora registered a case under FIR No. 117/2025 of NDPS Act and obtained a search warrant from the Hon’ble Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate 1st Class Shopian. Subsequently, a team from Police Station Zainapora accompanied by the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, raided the house of Khursheed Ahmad Itoo resident of Takiya Reben Zainapora. During the search, 1.2Kgs of Cannabis-like substance was seized. However, the accused is absconding and efforts are underway to effect his arrest,” police said in a statement.
Police reiteratedtheir commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and urges the public to extend cooperation. “Information regarding drug abuse/peddling can be shared on helpline 9596768831 (PCR Shopian). Identity of informers will be kept strictly confidential,” the statement said.
