HAJIN: The Education Department has released the latest zone-wise and cluster-wise enrolment data for government schools across Bandipora district, showing a significant rise in new admissions for the current academic year.

According to the figures, Zone Hajin has registered the highest number of new admissions—646 across 116 schools. Sumbal, Bandipora, Quilmuqam and Gurez have also recorded notable numbers with 500, 584, 567 and 237 admissions respectively. However, in terms of school-wise performance, Zone Sumbal has emerged as the district’s top performer, registering the highest average of 7.6 admissions per school, followed by Hajin (5.6) and Bandipora (5.2).

At the cluster level, HSS Aloosa leads with 221 admissions, followed by HSS Hajin (189), HSS Bandipora (151), HSS Mantrigam (134), HSS Arin (124) and HSS Gadakhud (126). Officials said the data reflects strong community outreach and effective mobilisation by school heads and teachers.

Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Hajin told Kashmir Raeder that the surge indicates renewed public confidence in government institutions, adding that “this growth is more than a statistic; it reflects increasing faith of parents in our schools and teachers”.

He said that field teams worked extensively on the ground, and the department hopes to carry this momentum forward to ensure quality education for every child.

Muntazir Muneer, Zonal Nodal Officer for the enrolment drive in Zone Hajin, said the updated data will help refine strategies and provide focused support to schools with lower averages. He added that better infrastructure, improved learning outcomes and active community involvement are encouraging more parents to choose government schools over private ones.
